ABOUT THE PROJECT
ARMSTRONG/WALKER FOOTBALL CLASSIC
L E G A C Y P A R A D E
To commemorate the legacy of the State of Virginia’s greatest annual high school rivalry football game the “Armstrong Walker Classic”, Mayor Levar Stoney, Parks & Recreation and alumni of both Maggie L Walker and Armstrong High schools have come together to present “Armstrong Walker Football Classic Legacy Parade”, starting Thanksgiving weekend 2021.
The beauty of this project is the high schools alumni “together” engaging the City of Richmond’s youth through the cities recreation centers. Alumni, will help teach another of the many Richmond Black History jewels of the past that meant so much to the community and enriched the city of Richmond for over 40 years. This special game took place annually Thanksgiving Saturday from 1938-1978.
Mark your calendars for Thanksgiving Saturday 2021. See you all Saturday, November 27th at 10:00am.
The parade is a community event free to the public.
It was MORE than just a Football Game........
